To create a living catalogue that reflects life abroad...
Originally conceived as a simple podcast, we realized that the life of the expat is nuanced and subjective and therefore must be expanded to include our intended audience. While each of us shares many experiences, we also navigate life abroad along many different pathways. These pathways twist and turn, weaving into a dynamic tapestry of human experience.
So we decided that Expat Dispatch should include art, poetry, stories, and more from us as well as from you, with the ultimate goal of creating something that is a reflection of Expat life, one that moves and changes as we do. We invite everyone to follow along, contribute, and enjoy.

Expat Dispatch is rooted in the conviction that our lives are shaped by the places we go and the experiences we have. Moreover, the convergence of cultures offers true opportunities to connect with humanity at large and, in so doing, connect to your own humanity.
We wish to publish work that is personal, vignettes of daily life in another country, with themes that touch upon the intersection of shared experience and personal perspective.

THE NAME
What is an 'Expat' Dispatch?
The term Expat has historically been used to classify those individuals living abroad who held a level of privilege in their voluntary departure from their homelands. While we recognize this, we employ the term to incorporate any and all persons who live in a land that did not witness their birth. Migrants, refugees, nomads, expats, in the end, we are all simply human beings, living across borders and experiencing life for the first time. Thus, the Expat Dispatch is for all of us, a living, breathing collective journal of the highs and lows of living in a foreign land.
